The Grammy Awards never disappoint when it comes to their over-the-top, push-the-limits attire, but this year, the bling game was weaker than years past. We know Beyonce wore a 12 million dollar Lorrain Schwartz diamond Y-shaped necklace the made jaws hit the floor and her husband, Jay-Z, rocked a Cartier panther ring that caused a lot of buzz, but overall, the jewels were very minimal. Therefore, as awards seasons continues along and we prepare for Hollywood’s biggest night, the Academy Awards, here are a few jewelry trends we would like to see on the red carpet:
Statement Earrings: They are eye-catching! We anticipate and would like to see geometric pieces that stand out when paired with a solid colored, simple dress. Celebrities such as Emma Stone and Amy Adams would pull this look off flawlessly.
Colored Gems: Diamonds will always be a girl’s best friend, but this season colored gemstones can be their runner up. Sapphires, rubies and emeralds are three in particular we will be on the lookout for during the Oscars. Their colors can take a look to the next level and make someone standout on the red carpet. In the past, celebrities like Angelia Jolie and Reese Witherspoon have upgraded their Academy Awards look by using colored gemstones to their advantage.
Elaborate Rings: Stun the paparazzi with a large, eye-catching ring. The statement “the bigger, the better” applies to this trend. The celebrities need to continue to embrace this and garb rings that cause people to stop and stare. We think Natalie Portman can upgrade her usual simple elegance with a spectacular ring.
Charm Bracelets and Necklaces: A single charm on a necklace or bracelet can transform an entire look, but multiple charms on a necklace or bracelet make a statement! We are looking forward to celebrities such as Meryl Streep or Viola Davis trying this trend. Shop this look by stopping into Joyce’s Fine Jewelry and ask to see the Monica Rich Kosann collection.
We will let you know on Monday, February 27, 2017 if any of our red carpet jewel anticipations were worn. But until then, we want you to let us know of your favorite Academy Awards red carpet looks but tagging us in them on Instagram @joycesjewelry.
